Secure ventilation and cable access in one bespoke solution

TS Designs wall mounted louvres with integrated cable port provide a purpose-built solution for electrical infrastructure where permanent ventilation and temporary cable access are both required. Manufactured from aluminium that will not corrode, each system is made to suit the individual structural opening and incorporates a lockable cable port, allowing generator and test cables to pass securely through the louvre while the building remains locked.


This allows cables to be left connected without compromising the security of the building or requiring the main access doors to remain open. By incorporating the cable access point within the wall mounted louvre rather than the main doorway, cables can also be kept away from the primary access route, helping to avoid trip hazards and maintain clear access into and out of the building. The cable port incorporates a stainless steel roller behind the opening hatch, allowing cables to be pulled through smoothly while helping to protect them from damage during use.


The solution was developed and approved in conjunction with GTC and has also been supplied for other IDNO and DNO applications, providing a practical cable access solution developed specifically around the requirements of electrical infrastructure.

Integrated Lockable Cable Port

The integrated cable port provides a dedicated access point for generator and test cables without requiring the main doors to be left open.

When required, the lockable hatch can be opened and cables passed through the louvre into the building. Once connected, the main building access can remain closed and locked, maintaining security while equipment is in operation.


A stainless steel roller positioned behind the opening hatch provides a smooth surface for cables to pass over, helping prevent damage as cables are pulled through or removed.

Positioning the cable port within the wall mounted louvre also keeps cables away from the main pedestrian access area, helping maintain a clear route through the doors and reducing potential trip hazards.


Four-Sided Wall Sleeve


As with our standard wall mounted louvres, the cable port louvre is housed within a bespoke four-sided aluminium sleeve manufactured to suit the depth of the structural opening. The sleeve fully lines the aperture, while fixing through the internal face means there are no externally accessible louvre fixings. The flangeless design allows the unit to be installed flush with the external brickwork or recessed within the opening for a neat, clean finish.


Louvre Construction


The surrounding louvre uses our extruded aluminium blade with an inverted ‘V’ profile and concave faces, providing permanent ventilation while eliminating direct line of sight through the louvre. The aluminium construction will not corrode and can be supplied with anti-vermin or stainless steel insect mesh to suit the project requirements.

Developed for electrical and utility infrastructure


The integrated cable port system is designed for applications where generator, test or temporary power cables need to pass into a secure building while allowing the main access doors to remain closed and locked.


Typical applications include electrical substations, transformer rooms, switch rooms and switchgear buildings, standby generator connections, temporary power applications, testing and commissioning environments, utility compounds, battery and energy storage infrastructure, and other secure plant or electrical buildings requiring dedicated cable access. The system is particularly suited to DNO and IDNO infrastructure, having been developed and approved in conjunction with GTC and subsequently supplied for other IDNO and DNO applications.

Each cable port louvre can be manufactured around the structural opening and individual project requirements, with a wide range of louvre sizes, sleeve depths, configurations and finishes available. This allows the ventilation area and cable access arrangement to be developed around the building rather than relying on a standard off-the-shelf solution.
